South East Power Hub - Renewables

SEPHR Wind Farm

Clean energy from South Australia

The South East Power Hub – Renewables (SEPHR) is a clean energy development proposed by TE H2.

SEPHR will consist of renewable generation from wind and solar plus a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), to generate up to 600MW of dispatchable renewable power to the South Australian network which will provide sufficient renewable energy to power up to 370,000 South Australian households every year.

TE H2 is also investigating the potential for producing green hydrogen from an expansion of the site, for domestic heavy industry and potential export, however, this will be subject to separate approvals once further feasibility studies are completed.

The SEPHR project is in early stages of development and feasibility assessment. As part of this feasibility stage, we are looking to secure easement options for the grid connection route to the existing 275kV transmission system.

TE H2 will undertake an extensive community engagement process with more information on the proposed project becoming available following the feasibility assessment process.

About TE H2 Australia

TE H2 is a joint venture between TotalEnergies (80%) and the Eren Groupe (20%) dedicated to the development of GW-scale renewable energy projects globally.

TE H2 combines extensive technical expertise and experience to deliver globally impactful renewable energy projects that create affordable, reliable, and accessible clean energy.

Our parent companies, TotalEnergies and the Eren Groupe, are committed to delivering more energy with fewer emissions. TotalEnergies is a global energy company diversifying its energy mix in response to the global energy transition, with hydrogen and green gases playing a crucial role in decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors. They have over 23 GW of operational renewable energy assets worldwide. The Eren Groupe remains a leader in investing in natural resource efficiency with an extensive track record in combating climate change.

Grassroots beginnings

The project had its genesis in 2006, when a group of local landowners came together on a large scale with a shared desire to harness the exceptional wind resources of south eastern South Australia.

Together, they formed a landowner company which in turn held the leases across each of the land parcels that they were hoping would host wind turbines.

In 2023, the landowner company transferred those leases across to an affiliate of TotalEnergies, in order to take the project to the next stage of development.

Our Process

TE H2 envisions SEPHR as a long-term, integral part of the community and is committed to maintaining ongoing engagement with local residents and stakeholders, throughout the project’s development, execution, and operational phases.

An extensive community engagement process will follow the initial feasibility assessments, providing detailed information and seeking feedback on the proposed project.
